I was working/traveling all weekend so I’m just now getting caught up with all things nerdy. I’ve yet to watch Who, mostly because I dread it being over for so long, but I’m sure I’ll force myself to actually do it later tonight. (And from the sounds of it, I’m not going to be disappointed by the finale. ) I did finally get to see Star Trek last night, though, and here’s my official review:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Basically, it was awesome, sooooooooo worth the wait, and Benedict Cumberbatch continues to be the shit.

I don’t want to post spoilers, of course, but I do want to hear what everyone thought of it (and of Who, after I watch it ), so please do share your thoughts via comment or email (which I PROMISE to catch up on this week. Hopefully. )

I’ve got a lot of other things I’m supposed to be getting caught up on right now, so if I have any hope of fitting in some bittersweet Who time at the end of the night, I best jet for the moment. My only personal update for now is that Twitter is off indefinitely (*sigh*), so I’m investigating alternative social media outlets on which I can kill pointless hours discussing absolutely nothing. My first such experiment is on this new-fangled Tumblr dealy that seems to be all the rage these days (not really), so if you’re on there and wanna join in my random nerdiness, feel free. There is an awful lot of geeky goodness happening today! It’s Free Comic Book and Star Wars Day all rolled into one nerdtastic little ball o’ awesome! I hope everyone is having fun and celebrating in an appropriately dorky manner…Personally, I’m hitting up my favorite comic stores in my Vader mask, then heading off to check out Iron Man 3 afterwards. (It kinda ties into FCBD, right? )

Here are a few Star Wars-themed vids to help get you into May the Fourth party mode. I still laugh my ass off every time I see the Conan bit, and it seems even more appropriate than usual right now considering Spock’s appearance towards the end (just in time for Into Darkness).

Also, I could really go for a bowl of C3POs right about now…And, yes, I love the Ewoks. Deal with it, suckas!!!

(I had the whole Star Wars Underoos collection back in the day…Wish I still did, though they’d probably fit a wee bit differently now! )

Just wanted to send out a quick hello, since I feel so out of the online loop right now… Still getting things figured out, but will have much I’ll be able to share with you very soon.

In the meantime, here are a couple of belated birthday shout-outs to two more of my all time favorite entertainment-type folks: Bettie Page and Crispin “Dead Fuck” Glover.

Bettie (April 22, 1923): An inspiration since the day I discovered her thanks to my comic book store back home. I’ve had this painting and these comics hanging up in every place I’ve lived in since my first apartment (way back in South Carolina…She’s done a lot of traveling with me! )

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

And I just did an homage to this scene, which I hope to be able to post for you very soon. It’s tease-y, lighthearted silliness (a good thing! ), and I had a lot of fun getting to (sort of) play Bettie.

As for Crispin (April 20, 1964), what can I say about Mr. Clowny Clown other than…Michael J. Who?? This video proves that George McFly was all we really needed to make BTTF awesome.

I go back and forth over whether you or Wondy are my all-time favorite Superhero, but you’re definitely right at the top, regardless. Your stories have inspired to be a better person since the day I discovered them, and brought me hope in some of my darkest moments (see post below ). Not to mention that you are probably the one responsible for creating my immense fetish for guys in glasses… Happy Birthday, Kal-El!! I’ll only play as you in Injustice today to celebrate!!

David Tennant: It is because of your coolness as the Doctor that I became a devout Whovian. Though Matt Smith has managed to wiggle his way into my hearts and replace you as my all-time fave (sorry! ), you’re still sexxxy as all hell, and I can’t wait for your return in the 50th Anniversary Special. Happy Birthday, you gorgeous Time Lord, you!!

I am seriously getting fed up with all the evil/tragedies in the world.

I had planned to post pics from Monsterpalooza and Days of the Dead today, and celebrate the fact that Injustice Day is practically upon us but, alas, real-world evil has (once again) put a damper on my spirit. I will never understand how or why so many baddies take it upon themselves to hurt innocent people who just want to have a bit of happy, carefree fun, but it keeps happening. I know it’s simplistic, naive thinking, but I wish everyone would just start being nice to each other. It doesn’t seem like it should be such a hard thing to do…

I have many positive personal updates for you, but it seems an inappropriate time to talk about my frivolous goings on. Before I get into the REALLY important happenings that have gone on this week (Doctor Who!!! Walking Dead!!! Game of Thrones!!! Gorging on Cadbury Eggs Day!!!), I think I need to address my current (unfortunate) Twitter status.

Thanks so much to everyone who has written me to find out if all is well because I had to shut it down for a bit. It’s extremely sweet that so many of you were so concerned. All is reasonably well…The semi-short version of it is that I’m involved in an ongoing legal battle with an Evil Ex who was using all of my online postings against me (including this blog, which is why I didn’t use it for quite a while, and have removed some of the “saucier” entries). I probably shouldn’t get into too many details as the case is still ongoing, but I will say that our society/legal system/etc. can be extremely sexist/hypocritical at times, and it’s infuriating!!! I’m possibly an “unfit parent” because I work in the…ahem…”pornographic arts” whilst a man with a record of physical abuse against my son and me who has a HUGE porn collection and spends tons of $$ on strippers, etc. is somehow seen as the better role model?? It’s all quite bullshit, and for a while I was trying to rebel against the system and stand against the injustice of all of this by staying online and posting as normal.  But it’s gotten absolutely ridiculous how much every little silly Twitter post has been dissected and used against me, so I was advised (read: forced ) to take it down at least temporaily until all this is behind me for good. This has been going on for some time now, and I’m praying it’s all settled very, very soon. But whether it is or not, I’ll be back on Twitter in some form or another ASAP…Hopefully by the end of the week, if I can figure out a “safe” way to do that. I’d hate to have to open a whole new account and be super careful about what I post, but if that’s the way it has to be, so be it…I should know soon, though, and I will update you guys as soon as I do.

In the meantime, thanks again for being so very sweet and checking in on me. I hope to be Tweeting geekily again with all of you very soon!! xoxo

The hardest part of all this (well, online-wise, anyway) has been that I had to shut it down right at the height of all the Geeky Awesomeness that’s been going down this week…Boo, I say!!! Aside from the obvious, aforementioned events, we also had the epic Clue Tribute Episode on Psych, WonderCon, and April Fool’s Day!! There was so much epic Tweeting to be done but, alas, I was forced to be silent.
